Patent Application Grant Scheme

In order to encourage enterprises and inventors to protect their technological research results and transfer their innovation results into assets, the HKSAR Government has allocated a fund to sponsor Hong Kong incorporated companies or Hong Kong permanent residents to apply for patents in Hong Kong and overseas. The scheme is managed by the Innovation and Technology Commission and the HKPC is one of the implementation organizations. First time applicants can get a maximum of 90% sponsorship for their application cost (subject to a maximum of HK$100,000 for each application) when they apply for patents in Hong Kong or overseas through IPSC.

For companies or individuals interested in apply for the grant, they must first supply our centre with details about their concept or innovation, and our centre will perform the patent search and technical assessment. Based on the assessment and search result, our centre will make a recommendation to the Innovation and Technology Commission on whether approval should be given. The final verdict rests with the Innovation and Technology Commission.
